The official website of the film of the 20th anniversary of Dragon Ball has announced that its provisional title will be Dragon Ball Super and that its premiere is scheduled for December 14 in Japanese cinemas. In the promotional image shown we can read: "The super cinematographic version begins".
Akira Toriyama commented on this film:
This Dragon Ball Super movie is the next story behind the current television series. It will develop after the outcome of the Power Tournament, where the fate of the same universe was at stake, and the short rest that followed. I will give some previously never revealed details about the Saiyans and Frieza, as well as an expected and powerful enemy to overcome, with what I think will be a pretty entertaining story.
From the Battle of Gods movie in 2013 and the subsequent Resurrection 'F' to the current movie, I've been writing with great care and I've had the pleasure of drawing a lot of designs. Right now I'm as busy as ever, and even though I do not have to deal with any serialization, I have to think about the anime, which is out of my control (laughs). Wait with desire!
And by the way, the anime for television has ended for now, but the popular manga of Toyotaro (which already has five volumes!) Is still ahead. I think it will develop differently than the television series and the movie, so please wait for it. I will do it myself!
The author of the original Dragon Ball manga, Akira Toriyama, will be responsible for writing the script and designing the characters. Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z) will be the director, while Naohiro Shintani will be the chief animation director. The artistic direction will be in the hands of Kazuo Ogura.
How could it be otherwise, Masako Nozawa will return as the voice of Goku.
Dragon Ball Super was released in Japan in July 2015 and in the West, being available through Crunchyroll.
