Megalobox, the new spinoff animated manga series Ashita no Joe by Ikki Kajiwara and Tetsuya Chiba, has shown a new ad. The anime will premiere on April 6 at 1:28 on TBS and will consist of a total of 13 episodes.

The anime commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original manga and in it we will meet JD (Junk Dog), a man who participates in illegal boxing matches to survive. One day he enters the ring again but finds a certain person. JD will want to accept a challenge in which he will risk everything.
You Moriyama will direct the anime under TMS Entertainment, being also responsible for the conceptual design. Katsuhiko Manabe (Kuuseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken: Raoh-den Gekito no Shu, Shin Kyuseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken: Raoh-den Junai no Sho) and Kensaku Kojima (real image series Shinya Shokudo) will be in charge of the scripts, while Mabanua (Sakamichi no Apollon) will compose the music.
Ashita no Joe is starring an orphan named Joe Yabuki who begins to enter the boxing world thanks to a former boxer. The original manga was published between 1968 and 1973, being one of the most acclaimed classic manga in Japan and having inspired several animated series, movies, real-image films and even plays.
