Koutetsujou no Kabaneri will have sequel in film format

From Fuji TV have revealed in the event Plus Ultra Fuji TV Anime Lineup Presentation 2018 held on Thursday the film Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen.

The story will be developed half a year after the end of the original television series, being a sequel to that as confirmed by director Tetsuro Araki. The official website of the anime indicates that the film is the "intermediate volume" of the story.

Kotetsujou no Kabaneri was aired between April and July 2016, being a story in which humans live in armored train stations where they take refuge from hordes of beings similar to zombies with steel hearts. Only armored locomotives known as "Hayajiro" can travel relatively safely between stations.

Tetsuro Araki was the director of the anime under Wit Studio, while Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass) was responsible for writing the scripts. Haruhiko Mikimoto (Macross 7) was the original character designer, while Hiroyuki Sawano composed the music.

Also two anime compilation films were released in December 2016 and January 2017, although they included some new scenes with respect to the series.
